According to reports coming out of Italy Chelsea have reached an agreement with Italian Serie A champions Juventus to sign Argentina forwad Gonzalo Higuain for £53 million.
Despite the uncertainties surrounding thier managerial position, the west london ckub have pressed ahead with their summer transfer bussiness, with negotiation for the replacement of Antonio Conte on going.
According to reports by Sport Mediaset, Juventus and Chelsea have struck a deal for the transfer of Higuain to West London and the transfer is expected to be made official after the appointment of Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri is currently tied to Napoli despite the Serie A outfit replacing him with fellow country man Carlo Ancelotti. But according to reports by Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Chelsea are edging closer to completing a deal that will see the italian replace Antonio.
Higuain, 30, is currently on holiday after his nation were knocked our of the World Cup by France on Saturday. The Argentinian however had the best season of his career when he played under Sarri at Napoli. During ehich he broke the goal scoring record in Italian Serie A with over 35 goals.
According to reports by Sport outlets in Italy, Conte’s rumoured successor has already given his wish list to Chelsea Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich. One of the players on the list is Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino, who is currently representing Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup.
Sarri coached the player while the midfielder was on a season-long loan at Empoli during the 2014/15 season. The report claims the manager is an admirer of the 26-year-old and he failed in attempts to sign Vecino for Napoli.
Chelsea are also in the process of completing a deal for Juventus and Italy defender Daniel Rugani. But the deal for the Italy internation would be treated separately from that of Higuain’s.
